Coffee cup reading is the only method of divination in which the symbol formation in the cup by the left over coffee grounds is interpreted by the reader.
When coffee and cups are properly prepared, pictures are actually formed by the grounds. The thick Espresso of Middle East, Turkey, Greece etc are different from American coffee and form a perfect vehicle for the Divination.

The syrupy grounds at the bottom of the cup drip down the inside of the cup, forming pictures along the way.
When the dripping stops, the cup is turned back upright and the diviner ‘reads’ the pictures in the grounds.
